Characteristics of WinDev Express

This help page presents some of the differences between WinDev Express and WinDev 11.

Main differences between WinDev Express and WinDev 11:

The performance applications developed with the Express version as well as some editor processes can be slowed down.
Some objects handled by WinDev Express are prefixed by "EXPRESS".
A project created with "WinDev 11" cannot be opened by WinDev Express.
WinDev Express does not allow you to import projects developed with earlier versions.
Source Code Manager (SCM) is not available.
WinDev Express cannot be used in multi-user mode. It can only be used in single-user mode.

Executable
	Various:	A warning message is regularly displayed when using the applications created with the Express version. The applications created with the Express version are automatically closed once they have been used during 1 hour. The lifetime of the applications created with the Express version does not exceed a few weeks. Java generation is not available in the Express version.
Setup Editor
	Files that can be installed: Maximum Number	Limited in the Express version	Unlimited (depending on the resources of the current computer)
	Various:	The use of a custom installer is not available in the Express version. The Express version does not allow you to create setup programs on diskettes (or on simulation of diskettes). The Express version does not allow you to create setup programs via MSI. The Express version does not allow you to install the Hyper File Client/Server server. The Express version does not allow you to download the framework.
Various Limits
		The ODBC driver for Hyper File is not supplied with the Express version. The tools are supplied in Express Version. WDTEST ("Regression Test" Center) is not available in the Express version. "WDClip" (tool for clipping windows) is not available in the Express version. "WDConver" (tool for importing external databases) is not available in the Express version. "WDModFic" (tool for applying the changes to the data files from Data Model Editor to the end-user computers) is not available in the Express version. The native accesses are not available in the Express version. RTF Text Editor is not available in the Express version. The link with external languages (C++, C#, Java, Basic, Cobol, Fortan, and so on) is not available in the Express version.
